international managers, headquarters staffs and business unit executives
manage and coordinate their complex responsibilities. We know that managing and reviewing employees in an international environment
presents particular challenges.
- Cross-Currency - local and/or corporate managers with employees in
several locations paid in different currencies. e.g. International
Sales Director with Country Sales Managers paid in local currencies,
needing to roll up to their own budgeted currency.
- Matrixed Business Units - Salaries are proposed by geographic managers
and are reviewed and concurred by Business Units managers in a different
location. This may involve multiple currencies, but it certainly
involves matrix organization structures and secondary matrixed approvals.
- Executive Compensation - Vice President level personnel may be reviewed
and compensated in entirely different structures from their employees.
This may involve elements of both of the above - multiple currencies
and matrixed responsibilities.
Focal Review provides the functional and organizational ability to
implement one or more of the above. It can even be installed so as to
look only at the cross-national executive level and leave all other
employees to be administered by local systems.
